3. How do I get a membership or daily pass?: Daily passes can be purchased anytime during operating hours. Daily pass fees are differentiated by residency and age. McKinney residents get a discount on membership rates and non-residents pay standard rates. Residents are considered to be those who pay their property taxes to the City of McKinney – not MISD families or McKinney mailing addresses who pay property taxes elsewhere. McKinney residents receive the discounted rate because they already help pay for the infrastructure of the city. Memberships can be paid monthly or annually with an additional discount. Sign up now.

4. What do Day Passes include?: Day passes include unlimited use of non-instructional aquatics, fitness equipment, indoor track and gym (age permitting) and non-specialty group exercise classes. Learn more about our Day Passes.

5. Is there a discount for guests who are not going to participate at the facility?: The Apex Centre does not offer a discount for those who choose not to work out, swim or participate in a program. All guests entering the facility must have a membership or purchase a day pass. See our membership and day pass page.

6. Is there a discount for guests who are not going to swim?: The Apex Centre is a participatory facility; we do not offer a discount for those who choose not to swim. See our day pass pricing here.

7. What is the definition of family for membership purposes?: A family constitutes at least one and no more than two adult heads of household and dependents that are 23 years of age or younger in school or living at home. It also includes persons with special needs living as a single housekeeping unit at the same address. Learn more about our memberships.

8. What are the age ranges for membership purposes?

Adult - 18-59 years of age
Senior - 60+ years of age
Youth - 3-17 years of age

9. Are annual passes refundable?: Annual passes are non-refundable. If you choose to purchase an annual pass by paying for one year in full, the pass is non-refundable with the exception of the 30-day opt-out period. Learn more about our memberships.

10. Are annual passes transferable?: Individual or family annual members may transfer the pass to another individual or family. If the individual or family receiving the annual pass is a non-resident of the City of McKinney, the receiving party will be required to pay the difference between the resident annual pass fee and the non-resident annual pass fee. If a non-resident annual membership is transferring their annual pass to a resident of the City of McKinney, there is no refund for the price difference. Learn more about our memberships.

11. May I freeze my membership for medical reasons?: In the event of a medical condition that prevents you from using The Apex Centre, you may freeze your annual pass for $10 a month by providing a doctor’s statement. Once a doctor’s release is obtained to return to the facility, the pass will be reactivated for the length of time it was frozen. If you have a family pass and elect to freeze the pass, use for the entire family will be frozen. Learn more about our memberships.

12. What is your 30-day opt-out period?

Annual members may only request a refund within the first 30 days from the date of purchase.

All requests must be submitted in writing, either by filling out the form or by emailing ApexMem@McKinneyTexas.org. A one-month fee at the monthly rate, plus a $75 service charge, will be deducted from the original amount paid at the time of refund.

13. My family and I have visited the Apex Centre by purchasing day passes. Do we have an account?: Yes, you have an account in our system. Please follow the online account registration instructions for returning users in our online portal.

14. I did not have time to create my account online before I brought my kids to swim today. Can we create an account at the facility?: Yes, we have four stations that allow customers to create an account before coming to the counter to purchase a day pass. See our day pass rates.

15. What kinds of classes does the Apex Centre offer?: The Apex Centre offers group classes in cardio, core, flexibility and stability.

16. How do I register for a program or class?

Register at our customer service desk. General group exercise classes (step, spin, yoga, etc.) are included with the membership and do not require an extra fee. There will also be numerous other fee-based programs for adults and children, and these will vary depending on time of year and membership requests. All classes and programs requiring additional fees must be paid at the time of registration.

17. Does the Apex Centre have personal trainers?: Yes. The Apex Centre does have personal trainers available. learn more.

19. Does the Apex Centre offer a supervised playroom?: Yes, a supervised playroom is available for children ages 3 months to 9 years. Learn More.

20. Do you take credit cards?: We accept Visa, Discover and MasterCard. Besides cash, we also accept personal checks, cashier’s checks and money orders made out to the City of McKinney or the Apex Centre.

22. Is there an additional price for indoor and outdoor amenities?: There is only one admission price, which includes access to all public areas. Day passes and annual / monthly memberships are available. Learn more about our memberships here.

23. What pools and water amenities does the Apex Centre have?

24. Are guests allowed to bring coolers and outside food into the pools?: Coolers and outside food and beverages are permitted. However, glass containers and alcohol are not permitted inside the pools or facility. All coolers are checked at the entry points to the facility. Learn more on our pool guidelines.

25. Are outside floats and goggles allowed in the pools?: Outside flotation devices are not permitted as they cover the surface of the pools and prevent lifeguards from seeing the bottoms of the pools. Face masks are not allowed in the pool; however, goggles that only cover the eyes are allowed. See more guidelines here.

26. What are the height requirements for the slides?: Closed flume slides have a height requirement of 48". Open flume slides have a height requirement of 42". See more on our slide guidelines here.

27. Are life jackets available at the pool?: You are allowed to bring a life jacket from home. All life jackets must be Coast Guard-approved. Little floaties and small flotation devices are not allowed at the Apex Centre pools. See more guidelines here.

28. Is smoking allowed at the pools?: The Apex Centre is a tobacco-free facility. This includes the use of e-cigarettes. Learn more about our facility guidelines.

29. Can I host a party at the Apex Centre?

Yes! The Apex Centre has numerous opportunities to host parties, weddings, reunions and other types of receptions and gatherings throughout the year.

31. What should I wear at the Apex Centre?: Since the Apex Centre is a family facility, proper attire includes shirts or tops that cover the torso without being revealing, shorts or pants and proper footwear. If you are swimming, wear a family-oriented swimsuit with a lining. Cutoffs or undergarments are not considered appropriate swimwear. Footwear must be worn at all times in the Apex Centre. In the gym, on the fitness floor and in the weight room, closed-toed shoes are required for safety. See more guidelines here.

32. Are lockers available?: Lockers are available inside the facility. Lockers will have key pads to enter a day-use number, so no padlocks are needed. Lockers are for day use only and items must be removed at the end of the day. Return to our homepage here.

33. Does the Apex Centre offer rain checks?: Yes. In the event of pool operation suspension due to inclement weather, you can have your receipt stamped for a rain check. You must have been present in the pool areas less than two hours for the rain check policy to apply. Management reserves the right to suspend operation and/or close the pools at any time and initiate the rain check policy. If the indoor pool stays open while the outdoor pool closes, the rain check policy will not apply. See more guidelines here.

34. What is your Inclement Weather Policy?: When lightning occurs, the pools will be closed. If we are unable to reopen after thirty minutes, the pool will close and attempt to reopen later in the day. This policy is in effect until one hour prior to official closing time. This affects indoor and outdoor pool operations. See more guidelines here.

35. Is the Apex Centre set up for people with special needs?: Yes, the Apex Centre is ADA Compliant and offers a pool lift. Return to the homepage here.
