Parking Studies
Every five years, the Planning Department conducts a study of parking in downtown McKinney to evaluate how the area’s parking is serving visitors, employees, and businesses. Find out how we're using that information to improve McKinney.

A Framework for Parking Management
The 2021 Parking Action Plan provides a framework for the City of McKinney to move forward in developing a parking management program that allows the city to be responsive and flexible to parking demands as the city grows and its needs change.
The Parking Action Plan incorporated the city's past parking studies to follow trends and identify long-term perking issues in the city.
Stakeholder input was a high priority throughout the creation of the Parking Action Plan. Nine city departments, two city boards, the McKinney Chamber of Commerce and Main Street businesses provided feedback to the steering committee to help inform recommendations.
The Parking Action Plan makes recommendations in three major areas:

Wayfinding Studies
The City of McKinney is developing a Wayfinding Master Plan. Wayfinding guides all transportation modes by providing information when entering city limits, directional arrows to major destinations, walking routes from parking garages to event centers or a downtown square. The goal is to develop a wayfinding signage system that makes it easier for residents and visitors to navigate and explore McKinney.
