Citizens Fire Academy (CFA) is designed for individuals who live or work in McKinney and want to know more about their Fire Department. Classes include hands-on experiences like climbing the fire truck ladder and putting out a car fire in full bunker gear.
Class is limited to 20 participants.
9 week course; Thursdays 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.
One Saturday, 9 a.m. - noon.
Priority is given to applicants who live or work in McKinney.
Members of the Citizen’s Fire Academy Alumni Association (CFAAA) support the Fire Department in diverse ways that make a difference in the lives of both firefighters and the community. Members meet regularly; once a month.
Deliver support apparatus to extended emergency incidents.
Drive the Light and Air truck to emergency scenes.
Drive and operate a Rehabilitation Unit allowing firefighters to recover from the elements.
Provide water, shelter and other needs.
Assist with smoke alarm canvasses.
Operate the Fire Safety House, an education tool for children.
Raise awareness at community safety fairs.
Assist with fundraising efforts.
